1. What is an umbrella valve?

Umbrella valve gets its name from its round diaphragm shaped like a mini umbrella, it is a kind of elastomer valve, which plays the role of sealing.Its elastomeric parts are an important part of a check or non-return valve. The lightweight umbrella check valve allows fluid to flow in one direction while preventing it from flowing backwards in the opposite direction.

2.What are the main applications of umbrella valves?

Applications in automotive industry : Fuel system, engine fuel injection control, anti-locking brake system, lubrication system, accumulator cylinder anti-reverse valve and drain valve, as well as interior temperature control system, windshield wipers, hazardous gas recycling system, vacuum negative pressure system, valves and pumps.

Pharmaceuticals: disposable medical devices, diagnostic equipment, medication mixing tanks, respiratory systems, and other medical equipment.

Equipment :Household appliances (e.g., inverted skirt valve assembly construction for floor scrubber inlet valves), liquid dispensers, vacuum pressure pumps, soap dispensers.

Others: plumbing fixtures, anti-siphon devices, toys and sports equipment, gas and fluid controllers, liquid fertilizer pumps, and irrigation equipment.

3.How to install the umbrella valve?

There are currently 3 main types of installation:

Push-in Umbrella Valve: In automatic assembly, there is a notch at the top of the valve where a pin can be inserted.

Pull-in umbrella valve: The pull-in umbrella valve is by far the most common type. The long tail passes directly through a center hole located in the valve seat and the tail is then “pulled in”.

Inverted Umbrella Valve: Whereas the stem of an umbrella valve may be slightly restricted in some applications, the center stem of an inverted skirt umbrella valve is located downstream of the valve section and is held in place by a retainer.

In terms of flow rate: If your valve requires a low flow rate and needs to withstand a high back pressure, we recommend only one or two small flow orifices. If your valve requires a high flow rate, we recommend making the flow holes in the valve seat as large as possible.

In terms of the finish: at the same time, it should be noted that the valve seat finish will directly affect the working performance of the valve, so the processing precision requirements are very high.
